Four Ways To Kill Even The Toughest Of Cravings

Hi, it's John Sims…

Dealing with food cravings is no fun! There's nothing that will send you off your diet faster than pesky food cravings. One minute you're doing just fine on your program and the next, you're off eating ice cream, cookies, cake, or pizza.

What can you do?

While it would be great to say that you can do away with cravings entirely, that's unlikely to happen. Instead, you need to figure out how to best control them through your food intake.

Let's look at four common cravings that most people have and what you can do to remedy the situation.

Way 1:

Pizza

If pizza is what you desire, the good news is that you can make your own healthier version of pizza. All you need to do is swap out that thick, carb-dense pizza crust for something a little thinner – a whole wheat pita or a soft tortilla will work perfectly.

Then use reduced-fat cheese on top along with as many vegetables as you can and you'll have a relatively healthy meal on your hands.

Way 2:

Ice Cream

Ice cream is another very common craving that most people experience at least a few times while on their diet plan. How can you get past this one?

Simple – Greek yogurt. Blend together a cup of Greek yogurt, a scoop of your favorite protein powder, a quarter cup of natural peanut butter and a half cup of unsweetened almond milk.

Pour this into a pan and place it in the freeze for a few hours. Once frozen, stir and serve. While it may not taste exactly like the real thing, it'll be close enough.

Way 3:

Potato Chips

Potato chips are another killer for most people on their diet plans. These are both high in carbs and fats, so are definitely not a wise choice.

The solution? Popcorn. Popcorn still gives you that great crunch taste along with the salt you desire for half the calories and almost none of the fat.

As an added benefit, popcorn is also loaded with dietary fiber, so this will help combat hunger and may even boost your heart health. Popcorn is one snack you can feel great about eating.

Way 4:

Chocolate

Finally, if chocolate is what you desire, know that there are many delicious ways to satisfy this craving. For instance, try chocolate protein powder. Or, make your own homemade chocolate pudding using lower sugar, low-fat chocolate pudding powder.

Or, you might satisfy your craving with a square of dark chocolate instead if you want the real thing.

As long as you stay away from milk chocolate, which contains all the sugar you want to avoid, there is no reason you can't add a little chocolate into your diet plan.

So there you have a few of the simple tips to get past those food cravings. If you simply look for healthier food that you can substitute in place of whatever it is you're craving, you should be able to stick with your diet plan without too much difficulty.
